This page describes research interests of individuals working
on organic related research in the College of Agriculture
at the University of Saskatchewan. Simon Weseen, Erin Sawyer
and Gary Storey are part of the Department of Agricultural
Economics Organic Project. Brenda Frick works for the Organic
Agriculture Centre of Canada, while Diane Knight works for
the Department of Soil Science.
Simon Weseen: Organic Trade and Market Analyst
– Dept. of Agricultural Economics
Simon's primary research interests include organic certification
/accreditation, and organic marketing. For specific research

below.
Erin Sawyer: Professional Research Associate
- Dept. of Agricultural Economics
Erin started working in the area of organics during her time
as Coordinator of Volunteers at UBC Farm. Since then, she
completed a master’s thesis on the economic impacts
of harmonizing organic standards internationally at the University
of Saskatchewan and is now working on a contractual basis
as a research associate in the Department of Agricultural
Economics. Erin’s primary research interests include
the trade and marketing of organic products.
Gary Storey: Professor Emeritus - Dept of
Agricultural Economics
Gary has been working on the project on a casual basis since
2002. His primary research interests include organic marketing

Brenda Frick: Prairie Coordinator –
Organic Agriculture Centre of Canada (OACC)
Although an employee of the OACC, brenda is based out of
the Plant Sciences Department at the U of S. For an overview
